15 October 2023 The 6th Call for Decade Actions is now open!

The Ocean Decade has launched a new call for Decade Actions (06/2023) that will support the co-design of new Decade Actions across Africa and Caribbean Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

Highly dependent on marine resources, a large number of African countries and SIDS are at various stages on the path to sustainable ocean management, facing both major challenges and great opportunities. The latest Decade Call aims to fill gaps in knowledge and capacity development through a tailored and inclusive participatory process, to co-design innovative Actions that recognise the specific needs of under-represented geographical regions. The UK National Decade Committee are delighted to support this call!

A new four-part structure has been designed for the latest Call:

Part I - Co-design of Decade Actions

Proponents from African and Caribbean SIDS nations are invited to submit applications in alignment with national priorities and meeting the potential Ocean Decade endorsement criteria. Successful applicants will be mentored through the development of Decade Actions by the governments of Sweden, Norway and Ireland.

Part II - Expression of Interest for Decade Programmes

Throughout this Action Call, the Ocean Decade will accept Expression of Interest proposals for new Decade Programmes which aim to address any of the ten Decade Challenges.

Part III - Ocean Decade Projects

During the Call, 32 Endorsed Decade Programmes will invite submissions for suitable Decade Projects. A full list of participating Programmes can be found in the Action Call 06/2023 Guidance Note.

Part IV - Ocean Decade Contributions

Decade Contributions of in-kind or financial resources are encouraged to support the implementation of co-designed Decade Actions under Part I; and/or the funding of co-design of Actions in other priority regions such as Pacific SIDS and Latin America.
