10 June 2024 New Endorsed Activity: Turning the Tide: Systems thinking for a sustainable ocean

The Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) are happy to announce the renewed endorsement of the activity 'Turning the Tide: Systems thinking for a sustainable ocean'.

Initially endorsed as a year-long project in 2023, 'Turning the Tide: Systems thinking for a sustainable ocean', championed a systems thinking approach to issues affecting the marine and coastal environment. Working with members, other individuals and organisations  from across the sector, the activity series helped to shape discussions towards finding a unified voice for the UK’s Marine and Coastal Science community on achieving a sustainable ocean. 

So far, the endorsed activity has been exploring different themes within the overall topic of ocean sustainability via a series of free online webinars and workshops, article publication, networking opportunities and invite-only expert discussion meetings which have been recorded and shared through the IES website and IES YouTube Channel. As a culmination of the discussions held throughout the project, the IES are now looking to produce and publish a set of reports to share key information, produced in collaboration with other organisations working key areas covered.
