UK Stakeholder Event
The UK National Decade Committee, with the support of Defra, FCDO and the Royal Society, are planning a one-day science policy dialogue, bringing together a diverse mix of UK stakeholders to reflect on how the UK has engaged with the UN Ocean Decade so far, and to explore UK policy directions and science priorities for the next five years and beyond.
This one-day dialogue will:
- Showcase examples of UK projects and initiatives related to the Ocean Decade
- Highlight where UK engagement in the Decade supports and informs domestic and international policy
- Connect and discuss new policy directions and science priorities to seek broad agreement on the UK focus for the rest of the Decade
- Promote collaboration, networking and opportunities for co-design of future initiatives and development of the Ocean Decade’s legacy for the UK
The event will include a mix of plenary talks, workshops, and networking sessions to give everyone plenty of chances to connect, share ideas, and hear from a wide range of perspectives. Discussion topics will align with the outcomes of the UN Ocean Decade’s Vision 2030 process, with a particular focus on UK scientific strengths and government aims and policy interests.
We anticipate launching online registration at the end of January 2025 with some more detail of the event programme – please note that we would love to welcome everyone who registers for the event, but unfortunately, we are limited by capacity and will have to review registrations to ensure that we have representation reflecting the diversity of the UK ocean community.
